Elle Contemporaryprojects Cultural Association together with Stichting Nac - Rotterdam  has pleased to announce TORINOver012 - 1YEAR TOUR in Rotterdam as the third International step of the video review part of the project TORINOver. 1YEAR TOUR is an integral part of the exhibition and it has acquired more and more significance from the various sessions and has now become completely autonomous. It represents the core of the project, in its journey to sustain and feed a network of international synergies meant to promote cooperation and cultural exchanges .

Onze Tuin / Our Garden

Uitnodiging 'Onze tuin'

Op 8 juni van 17:00 tot 19:00 opent de tentoonstelling 'Onze Tuin', een tentoonstelling door mij samengesteld.

Je bent van harte uitgenodigd.

‘Onze tuin’ is een tentoonstelling die laat zien hoe vanzelfsprekend een natuurlijke omgeving tot beeldende abstractie kan leiden en hoe vanzelfsprekend abstractie weer opgenomen kan worden door een natuurlijke omgeving.

De tentoonstelling toont de volgende kunstenaars:
Marjolijn van den Assem (NL), Tonio de Roover(NL), Ghislain Amar (FR), Andre Pielage (NL). Ieder van deze kunstenaars maakt in zijn artistieke proces nadrukkelijk gebruik van zijn of haar natuurlijke omgeving. Hun kunstwerken zijn hun leefwerelden teruggebracht tot abstractie. Zo beginnen de tekeningen van Marjolijn van de Assem letterlijk als veldwerk, schetsend in het landschap, daarbij de voetsporen van Nietzsche volgend. Ghislain Amar  doet een haast filosofisch onderzoek naar hoe het op een bepaalde manier vastleggen van een omgeving een gevoel van sublimiteit kan geven. En zowel Tonio de Roover als Andre Pielage doen op geheel eigen wijze artistieke ingrepen in het landschap zelf.
De tentoonstelling is ook nog te bezichtigen tijdens het 'Verborgen Tuinen' festival in het weekeinde van 9 en 10 juni en tijdens het KunstWeekeind Charlois in het weekend van 23 en 24 juni van 10:00 tot 17:00.

Invitation for 'Our Garden' 

The exhibition 'Our Garden' opens on June 8 from 17:00 to 19:00

You are cordially invited. 

'Our Garden' is an exhibition that shows the ways in which a natural environment can lead to visual abstraction and how naturally abstraction can be placed back in a natural environment.
The exhibition features the following artists:
Marjolijn van den Assem (NL), Tonio de Roover (NL), Ghislain Amar (FR), Andre Pielage (NL). Each of these artists make explicit use of their natural environment. Their artworks are their worlds brought back to abstraction. The drawings of Marjolijn van den Assem literally start as fieldwork, the sketching of landscape, seeking for the remains of Nietzsche. Ghislain Amar studies the ways in which an environment can be captured and does this in an almost philosophical way, and both Tonio de Roover and Andre Pielage make sculptures and installations that intervene with the landscape itself.
You can also visit the exhibition during the "Hidden Gardens" festival in the weekend of June 9 and 10 and during the ArtWeekend Charlois in the weekend of June 23 and 24 from10:00 to 17:00

Grand Pr ix du SUD 2012
Prijsvraag voor het beste stedelijke idee voor Zuid

Doe mee aan de nieuwe, jaarlijks terugkerende, prijsvraag voor het beste stedelijke idee voor Rotterdam-Zuid en win een startbedrag van 15.000!

Het beste stedelijke idee voor Zuid is een goede toevoeging aan of verandering van de openbare ruimte of woonomgeving. De ideeën moeten gericht zijn op de stad, de openbare ruimte en het stedelijke of publieke leven op Zuid. Deze prijsvraag is een open oproep, en iedereen kan mee doen.

Elk ingediend idee wordt onderdeel van een groeiende tentoonstelling ‘Grand Prix du Sud‘ en zal reizen door de stad. De tentoonstelling laat steeds de 100 beste ideeën van dat moment zien op een landschap van 100 gelijke sokkels. Aan het eind van het jaar vindt de jurering en prijsuitreiking plaats.

Voor wanneer?

Deadline voor het indienen van de ideeën voor de 1e tentoonstelling is 15 juni.

Gedurende de 2e tentoonstelling in het kader van de 5e IABR, Making City van 6 t/m 26 juli is er opnieuw gelegenheid ideeën in te dienen, zowel voor als tijdens de tentoonstelling.

 EXPLORATION JOURNEY SEV

On Thursday 8 & Friday 9 of March a group of 50 people went on an studytrip in Rotterdam South. 

Initiated by the SEV (Stuurgroep Experimenten Volkshuisvesting/ advisory committee experimental public housing).

They visited small scale promising locations in this relatively unknown area, this was done in the frame of the national initiated program, Quality Hop Rotterdam South. They visited W_lF RT, the project space of the NAC Foundation, to get an insight about the projects and the structure of NAC. Included was a biological lunch made by “de kok van zuid”,  Pascal and his protégé Laura.

  The Community Lover’s Guide 

  edition Rotterdam

On March 9  the book The Community Lover’s Guide edition Rotterdam was presented in the temporary Community Lover’s Lab in Rotterdam.

 The temporary lab at Nieuwe Binnenweg 507.

Inside the book the story of the NAC Foundation next to 13 other initiatives in Rotterdam.

This book is the first in a series called the The Community Lover’s Guide to the Universe: a series of local editions bringing together stories of people and their projects who are actively and creatively making community together.

Each book is produced collaboratively and focus on a particular place or theme.

Simona da Pozzo won this residency as a grant for her participation to Quotidiana11, exhibition of young italian artists organised by Progetto Giovani - Comune di Padova. the residency is the first partnership project of Progetto Giovani and Stichting Nac.

WHAT REMAINS is both the result and the sketch for a situation:
it is an occasion of exchange about the experience that I'm producing around "what remains" and an assertive question mark.
"From 4 pm to 10 pm" is a duration between two random hours : there is no starting point or an end for something, even though my body will be between the other tiny intervention as a time machine device.... or maybe I could also say that "I'll be performing" but this could induce improper expectations.
So it's simply about this very loop questions about the trace, the impression, the death, the residue (would I be dramatic or not?)... all that stuff.....What would it be there when I (or somebody else) will not?

To underline,

To create the possibility of a landscape with the least necessary meanings.
To form a construct that exists within its own environment.
To respond to present site characteristics.
To interweave imprints of structures from the past, from memory.
To draw the horizon without drawing the horizon.


a moving (light) installation that will let the viewer become part of a moving environment which, with time, unfolds another possibility of artsplaats.


As a part of this event, Stichting Nac organises a borrel (drink) around 20.00 at wolfart project space.


Simona da Pozzo is for 6 weeks in Rotterdam in the frame of the residency prize organised by Progetto Giovani Padova in collaboration with Stichting Nac as a grant for her participation to the exhibition Quotidiana.
